An Elephant Never Forgets.

Elephant drawing done in the style of Rembrandt, using conte crayon.
This was created as part of an assignment for my figure drawing class.
At the beginning of the semester I really, really disliked conte and charcoal, actually I had somewhat of an irrational fear of it, but now I'm actually starting to love it. Maybe this will change my feelings on drawing in general? Here's to hoping!

Portraits

I've discovered a new love.

I learned the past few weeks that I love taking portaits and just photographing people in general. I'm really happy with the way this project turned out and it felt really good when my parents wanted to frame the ones of my siblings right away. (: These pictures also mean a lot to me because of all the work that went into them. As much as I complain about working with film and all the time and energy it requires, I wouldn't trade the outcome for anything. This batch of 6 prints took approximately 4 hours in the dark room between processing film, enlarging, and printing. I'm still considering becoming a photography major too...we'll see how things go I guess!

Here's just one from the set of my brother, Trevor. You can view the rest on my Flickr by clicking the link below.

I've been living in the dark room lately...

Not complaining, but my life at school has been pretty much consumed by the dark room lately so all my time and energy has been going into working with black and white film. Here's a little taste of what I've been up to...

Lacking The "Inspirement"

I need some inspiration!
Nothing lately has really driven me to want to create.
I'm hoping going back to my life as an art student will produce some creativity.

Although, I did just get replacement headphones,
maybe the music will help?

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

We're just trying to find some color in this black & white world.

She's a mess of gorgeous chaos,
& you can see it in her eyes.

Fact: I used to hate watercolors; I've found a love for them recently.
Ever since I discovered my new favorite artist: Marion Bolognesi.
Check her out here. Her watercolor faces are beautiful.
